Design by Simplicity

My motto as a software developer:

- Embrace the design by simplicity principle
- Do not plan for the worst, you can't
- Ask yourself, "is this design or architecture really worth it?"
- Do not optimize until you can prove there is a bottleneck
- Refactor, refactor, refactor to make the code more readable
- Use meaningful names, embed comments in code, write wiki pages
- Use DBs, there is nothing wrong with an application to access a DB directly
- Quick cycles, quality releases, do not plan all features for a first release
- Use the right language for the right task

Best thing about the mac

It is not the OS, really. It is the hardware.
I installed Vista via bootcamp.
Works like a charm.
Basically, keep a small partition for iTunes & iPhoto, do everything else on Vista.
I will also install Ubuntu on the second laptop.

One home, 2 laptops, 3 OS, modern world?

LNR: Good changes ahead?

Massive changes in the French Rugby Championship (Top 14) according to France curb foreign invasion.

- to limit the number of foreigners players allowed at a club
- 50 per cent of squads will have to be made up of homegrown players and the number will rise from there (70% in 2011)

I think this is really good for Les Bleus...
